The RPR Workshop was held on February 11, 2026, hosted by ACEC Indiana in partnership with the City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW), brought together industry professionals to discuss the evolving role of the Resident Project Representative (RPR) and key factors influencing project delivery on City capital projects.
Topics included DPW’s capital program budget outlook, RPR roles and responsibilities, contractor coordination and schedule management, stormwater requirements, use of the City’s CIP system for daily reporting, QC/QA practices for roadway and bridge construction (including upcoming HMA specification updates), earthwork construction, change order and work directive processes, and project closeout best practices.
A recurring theme throughout the workshop was the importance of clear communication, consistency, and collaboration, as RPRs play a critical role in both project outcomes and public perception. To build on these discussions and help shape meaningful, mutually beneficial improvements, contractors are strongly encouraged to participate in DPW’s Contractor Feedback Survey, which is designed to capture contractor perspectives on bidding, project administration, risk, payment, and communication so that future changes can better support both the contracting community and the City of Indianapolis.
